Save the date for the next Ohio PeopleSoft RUG Meeting, October 30th!!

Wow…record timing. The new, and improved, Ohio RUG Board has cranked out the next meeting’s agenda. We have a couple powerful customer presentations from both Westfield Group (titled “PeopleSoft Financials: A Recipe for Success”) and Honda of America, mfg. (titled “PeopleSoft ePerformance: Driving Performance Management”).

Mary Jo McElroy, OhioHealth’s Vice President of Information Services will also be with us to assist Terry Brown from ServiceNow when he presents “Software as a Service”.

Paul Isherwood with IntraSee (one of our favorite vendors) will also be with us to present a really exciting presentation on “Web 2.0 and PeopleSoft”.

Well...I miss our fall meeting. We had to cancel due to lack of registrations. We have a rough idea of why but would love to hear from you. The October 18th Ohio RUG Meeting Is Cancelled!!

The Ohio PeopleSoft Ohio RUG Meeting scheduled for October 18th has been cancelled!!

Well...I hate to say it but we have just not had much luck with registrations for our October 18th Ohio PeopleSoft RUG Meeting. In order to be fair to our vendor/sponsors and avoid additional costs, that we cannot afford, we are cancelling our meeting. We realize there are a great many factors that play into why or why not folks can attend our meetings and there really is no one thing that we can point to but we will not give up. Spring should be another great meeting and agenda and we will start working on ways to build that up for all of you. Stay tuned for our 2008 meeting dates to come soon.

If you have already sent your payment in to us we will work hard over the next few weeks to get those back out to you. We are very sorry for the inconvenience and if you have any questions at all please contact either, myself Tim Johnson or Sara Forshey, at tjjohnson1@herffjones.com or forshey.11@osu.edu.

Oracle Open World Portal Customers Meeting...

Oracle is planning on setting up a meeting during Oracle Open World for anyone attending the conference this year who owns, uses, or would like to use any of the PeopleSoft Portal products. This is an informal meeting that gives the customers a fantastic opportunity to meet and chat with the Oracle's PeopleSoft Portal Team.

Location and date time are yet to be worked out. I need to gauge the interest to fix the location.

Oracle Open World is being held in San Fransisco from Nov 11-15th this year.

The next Ohio PeopleSoft JD Edwards meeting is scheduled for July 19th, 2007 at the Buckeye Hall of Fame Cafe. Very soon you will receive your first email invitation from our new Quest registration system. As we have been communicating over the past several months, the Oracle support for our current registration system (CVENT) will be discontinued at the end of May. Please be patient during our first attempt at using the new system. Although we do strive to do it right the first time, we may make mistakes.

We hope to have our agenda ready and invitations emailed out by the 19th of June. If you do need any assistance with registration or do not receive the invitation then please feel free to contact either Tim Johnson at tjjohnson1@herffjones.com or Sara Forshey at forshey.11@osu.edu.

Okay...I think it was a success...but please let us know what you think. We had a great day and a half full of about 80 education sessions, several Oracle Townhall sessions and a few General sessions by Microsoft, Oracle and Quest. With over 40 vendor/sponsors and the leadership and planning of Quest International, this event was a huge success. Okay...we had a fantastic meeting for the Ohio RUG in May. Thanks to everyone who helped make this a strong event including our board members, Oracle, and of course all of the member companies that came together to exchange ideas and resources. Our next meeting is not scheduled until November 16 for the Ohio RUG but as a joint effort we are working with The Midwest RUG, Indy RUG and Quest to have a great meeting in Chicago on September 14th and 15th. This will include 10 tracks (Enterprise and JDE) and up to about 7 sessions per track. The tracks are as follows:

Should be a great meeting...

Okay...We are back up and running now. Our Blog was down for a while because it was tagged as some sort of spam blog...not sure what that is but that is what I was told. Anyhow...I will continue to post updates and breaking news here.

Our May meeting tomorrow is set to be a great one and I am looking forward to seeing all of you there. We officially have 126 people registered so it will be a nice crowd to exchange ideas with.

There is another meeting that I wanted to notify everyone about. Currently, Quest is planning a joint conference between Quest, Oracle and all of the local RUGs in the Midwest, Upper Midwest and Plains states. The location has been selected to be the Wyndham Ohare Hotel and the dates are September 13-15th. There are not a lot of details yet but the RUG leaders will be working closely with our members to come up with some great customer presentations and then there will also be a combination of vendor and Oracle update presentations. February was a great meeting thanks very much to all of our speakers and sponsors. The board met after the meeting and decided on a couple additional meeting dates for this year. May 11th will be our next meeting and the we have decided to not hold a summer meeting but instead just have a Fall meeting. That meeting date is currently set for November 16, however, there is a rumbling out there that Quest and the Midwest RUG have been working to coordinate a fall meeting that may encompass other regional groups. I am working to gather information on that meeting and will get that to you as soon as I have it.

School District of Manatee County World Speaker BIO Elizabeth Goins - Systems Analyst , JD Edwards World - The Future of World; Our Roadmap to Yours: Beth Goins, Quest's World Product Advocate, is systems analyst for the School District of Manatee County in Bradenton, Fla., where she has been an analyst since 1993. Her duties include the design and implementation of information systems related to the finance, A/P, A/R, purchasing, warehouse/inventory, construction/job cost and fixed assets systems.

Prior to joining the Quest board of directors, Beth began participating, and continues to participate, in the Government SIG, the World PAC, and the JDE World User Group (WUG). She also has given several presentations and wrote the white paper for encumbrances in JD Edwards software covering issues in the EnterpriseOne and JDE World product lines.

Beth looks forward to providing insight into the networking and technology needs of the World community as Quest continues to grow as a user organization. She would like to help define user group roles and responsibilities within the user group community, all the while educating members on how to maximize their membership investment in Quest. She has a particular interest in pursuing issue tracking and communication tools for use among the members.

It's that time again...we are happy to say we are working hard to lock in our agenda items for our February meeting and look to have more participation and attendance in a number of areas. Our Quest affiliation is giving us some access to more JDE EnterpriseOne and World customers while they are also providing us access to customers who can present topics of interest. We also are working hard with Oracle to obtain good updates on the Fusion strategy and recent acquisitions. We are testing a new track as well for CRM and although I have so far been unable to successfully get an Executive update on the Siebel acquisition, I will hopefully get a couple good sessions for that track. Thanks again for your interest in keeping the Ohio PS RUG strong and stay tuned in the next week or so for updates and an invitation.

At our October 20th, 2005 User Group meeting the Board of Directors presented their recommendation to align with Quest User Group for our parent User Group affiliation. The membership voted to support and approve that recommendation and therefore we have confirmed with Quest that we are aligning with them. Our meetings will continue as they always have, ideally on a quarterly basis, and it is our hope to not only keep the content of our agendas strong for our Enterprise members but to improve the offerings for our Enterprise One and World members as well. As many of you may know by now, Alan Johnson (President of the Ohio Regional User Group) has left his position with MCI and joined the BigLots organization. Since BigLots is not a current customer of Oracle support he will need to step down from his position as President. We will miss him a great deal and have been making every attempt to take over his many duties to continue with our member meetings. One of the first changes we wanted to make was to change the BlogSpot website to one named for our organization.
